LISTENING WITH REAL PLAYER

The instructions on this page show how to display the YOUR INTERNET RADIO web pages in Real Player while you are listening.

The instructions on this page are for Real Player version 11. I do not know if these instructions will work with earlier versions of Real Player.

TUNE IN TO YOUR INTERNET RADIO

It is assumed that you have Real Player 11 installed and you're ready to listen to YOUR INTERENT RADIO.

Click here to go to the TUNE IN page. When you arrive there, click on the large Real Player logo to begin listening to YOUR INTERNET RADIO. Your Real Player should launch and within a moment or two you will hear YOUR INTERNET RADIO playing. The following picture that shows Real Player just after I've tuned in.

Real Player tuned in

The next task is to load the YOUR INTERNET RADIO web pages into Real Player's browser, so you can interact with the site in Real Player instead of using a separate window for a browser.

LOADING THE YOUR INTERNET RADIO SITE IN REAL PLAYER'S BROWSER

Real Player 11 does have a web browser built in to it, but the web browser usually doesn't appear until you've used Real Player to open web content. Fortunately, there are ways to force the Real Player browser to appear.

The next picture shows the text links at the top of the Real Player window.

Real Player Web Button

In the picture above, note the final text link on the far right, for "Web". Do you see that same "Web" link on your Real Player window, or is the "Web" link missing?

If you see the "Web" link, click on it.

If you do not see the "Web" link, then type in the word "radio" into the search field on the far right and then click your Enter key. That will force the Real Player to enable web content.

At this point you should see an "Address" field in your Real Player window, as illustrated in the following picture:

Real Player Web Button

See the URL text in the Address window in that last picture? That's the URL for the NOW PLAYING page. Type that same URL into the "Address" field in your Real Player window, then hit your Enter key. You should see the NOW PLAYING page in your Real Player widow, as shown in the next picture.

Real Player shows NOW PLAYING

Of course, the content of the NOW PLAYING page will not be complete unless you're logged in.

SAVING THE YOUR INTERNET RADIO SITE AS A FAVORITE IN REAL PLAYER'S BROWSER

At this point, you're tuned in and you can see the YOUR INTERNET RADIO content on the Real Player browser. What happens the next time you tune in? Do you have to go through all of the steps list above, again? No, not if you save the NOW PLAYING page as a Real Player favorite.

While the Real Player is displaying the NOW PLAYING page, use the method shown in the following picture to save it as a favorite.

Real Player Favorite

With your favorite established, you don't need to use the "Web" link at the top of Real Player and type a URL. You can click your saved favorite and it will load the NOW PLAYING page in the Real Player browser.

USING YOUR FAVORITE IN REAL PLAYER

The next time you tune in with Real Player, all you have to do is open up Real Player and launch your favorite - as shown in the next picture.

Real Player Favorite

That favorite will load the web content but it won't tune you in. If you aren't already tuned in when you open Real Player and click the favorite to load the YOUR INTERNET RADIO web page, in your Real Player browser you can click on the TUNE IN link at the top of the NOW PLAYING page.
